A few months ago, while working on a story about apprenticeships, I visited a remarkable program that helps formerly incarcerated men and women train for union jobs.
I wrote a bit about it for Working Nation [read article]. There are links inside the story to more on the initiative.
The on-the-job training -- being paid while learning valuable skills -- has changed their lives. You could hear it in their stories and you could see it in their faces. These are a few of the photos I took during the visit.
